About Marie Parkin: 
An Introduction

Meet Marie, a dedicated and passionate student at Rutgers University. Initially pursuing a degree in Music Education for her first two years of university, she decided to start pursuing majors in Psychology and Russian with with a minor in military science. She is also a part of the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps program at the Scarlet Knight Battalion.

In addition to her academic endeavors, Marie has also been actively involved in writing for Niche Social, a site that helps high school students explore their options after graduation. She has been a blog writer and content creator for the past three years, sharing her experiences and insights with others as they navigate the college decision-making process.

As Marie looks to the future, she is excited to pursue a career in the United States Army, branching 35A (Military Intelligence Officer), with an eventual transfer to 37F (Psychological Operations Specialist). In addition, she looks forward to pursuing a  master's degree in Educational Psychology. She also has always had a deep love for music, and she is excited to continue her studies and eventually earn her certificate in music therapy. She is passionate about advocating for the common use of alternative methods and non-traditional therapy options in IEP and 504 plans, and she believes that these approaches can be incredibly beneficial for students with unique needs. She hopes to one day work with students in DoDEA school districts, specifically those on military bases. With her dedication and hard work, Marie is sure to achieve her goals and make a positive impact in the world of education.
